My first experience with nose fillers and injectables in general was over two years ago with Dr Israr Wong and since then I’ve never really given nose fillers a second chance.
Don’t get me wrong, I loved how the Restylane® nose fillers turned out. Dr Wong did such a great job. It added so much oomph and the fillers coupled with the botox to “shrink” my jawline balanced my features and made them “pop”. The effect was subtle enough that people never realised I had anything “done” although they did often comment that I was looking good. That said, they never really managed to put a finger on what exactly was different until I revealed the “open secret”.
This was when the “middle” part of my nose bridge had already gradually lost height
My Initial Reservations Towards Doing Nose Fillers Again
I have a very low tolerance for pain and a terribly sensitive nose, so what always made me have second thoughts about doing it again was the memory of the pain when the fillers were injected into my nose tip. This heightened “pain memory storage” is also what keeps me away from Brazilian waxes which most ladies are perfectly fine with!
The Restylane® nose fillers lasted me about eight months to a year before I gradually noticed that most parts of my nose bridge were not as “high”. That said it is extremely hard to tell when its completely metabolised by my body since it’s not instant and takes time.
I thought I looked okay still and that for a year, perhaps the pain wasn’t something I’d want to go through again. Honestly, it wasn’t THAT bad, but I played it up in my mind a lot and it just made me scared! Of course, the longer I stayed away from doing my second round of nose fillers, the more I feared doing it. (Pretty much how it feels to jump off a cliff. The longer you wait, the scarier it gets once fear creeps in and gets a hold.)
I was chatting with Dr Wong about my fear when he recommended that I try out nose fillers again, this time with a longer-lasting brand of dermal fillers, Ellansé™.
Why Choose Ellansé™ Dermal Fillers?
What’s really great about Ellansé™ is that it comes in four different formulations that promises better longevity than regular dermal fillers: S (1 year), M (2 years), L (3 years), E (4 years). It also has the highest lifting capacity among all fillers in Singapore. This means it’s the best-in-class non-surgical rhinoplasty option.
If these fillers disappear before the guaranteed timeframe, The Knightsbridge Clinic will offer a touch up with the Ellansé™ dermal filler at no extra cost. How’s that for peace of mind?
I had the “L” formulation that would last me three years, guaranteed.
If this sounds too good to be true, don’t worry, it’s an European CE approved filler since 2009 and is already a favourite go-to filler which is extremely popular in Taiwan. Other than using it as a nose or chin filler, it’s also used to lift cheeks, temples, the forehead, and add volume to hands.
After all the reassurance, I visited Dr Wong at The Knightsbridge Clinic and he recommended the “L” formulation which would last me three years.
Who should consider Ellansé™ Dermal Fillers?
This is a big leap. Regular dermal fillers last anywhere from six months to one and a half years at best and it will slowly be absorbed by the body. So in the case of any boo-boos or if I’m not happy with how “high” my bridge is, I can get my doctor to dissolve it or just let it slowly get metabolised over a six month period. No biggie.
In my case, my natural nose bridge has a hump and this can be tricky for aesthetic doctors to try to “even out”. It’s important that if I opt for something as long-lasting as Ellansé™ that I let only a trusted aesthetic doctor, who has experience with getting fillers done for my nose and understands what works best for me, use it on me.
Ellansé™ is definitely more suitable for people who have:
- Already experienced nose fillers
- Know what they like and want (that is achievable with nose fillers)
- Have a trusted doctor
- Are hesitant to go through discomfort too frequently
- Want a longer-lasting effect each time
I do not recommend this for nose filler first-timers!
The Results of the Ellansé™ Dermal Fillers by Dr Israr Wong
The pain level of injecting the fillers was nowhere near what I remembered. I believe that Dr Wong’s skill and familiarity with both my nose and Ellansé™ were the reasons behind why I experienced way less discomfort. In fact, Dr Wong is the appointed trainer for Ellansé™ in Singapore.
The fillers are injected through several points on my nose bridge and tip, before being moulded carefully by Dr Wong to shape.
Straighter nose bridge and my “hump” isn’t visible after the fillers
I think this photo also shows how well the fillers were done by Dr Wong. You can not even see my nose “hump” anymore (see this photo) and sharper nose tip. I’m extremely satisfied with the results.
Left: A couple of months before the Ellansé™ fillers
Right: Three to four months after
I also have here the side-by-side comparison of my nose bridge in photos with as similar an angle as I could find. It’s pretty obvious that after the Ellansé™ fillers, my nose bridge is way more defined and elevated even while being super natural. I appear more photogenic in my photos even though in both cases, I had highlighted my nose with the same product!
How Much Does it Cost?
The Knightsbridge Clinic has two formulations of Ellansé™ available for customers:
- Ellansé™ M (2 years): $1,300 ($1,100 for Clique Elan members)
- Ellansé™ L (3 years): $1,650 ($1,500 for Clique Elan members)
At first glance, this may seem like a pricey step-up from Restylane® or RADIESSE® fillers, but factoring in how long it lasts and the time saved from visiting the clinic every six months or so (especially if your metabolism is pretty high), plus the guaranteed touch up in event the fillers don’t last as long as promised, this may be a better investment.
Ellansé™ changed my mind about nose fillers
I wanted to write this piece earlier to share my positive experience with Ellansé™, but I was so caught up with work the past couple of months! I hope you find this helpful if you’re considering a longer-term solution when it comes to nose fillers.
I’m really thankful that Dr Wong always has my best interests at heart and never gave up when I pushed back on getting my nose fillers done. In fact, that open conversation with him about my fears really helped him recommend something that would work best for me. It’s really nice to go back to the same doctor and know that he already “gets” what I want and will get it done right.
Just a quick disclaimer that while I like that aesthetic treatments and injectables can really improve my overall look, I don’t rely on them to boost my self-esteem and don’t think they are a necessity to feel confident. Just like makeup, I can live without them. I would also like to remind everyone that its best to consult with a trusted aesthetic doctor on your suitability for nose fillers before embarking on any aesthetic treatment.
